Requirements:
- A four-year degree required
- A minimum of ten years progressive experience as a leader in the Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Ocean Shipping industry with an emphasis on Trucking.
- Previous operational responsibility for at least 100 trucks and company drivers plus back-office employees, and several hundred pieces of equipment.
- Have responsibility for all transportation including: operations, sales, P&L, budgeting, maintenance etc.,
- Must have a successful track record operating and growing a profitable trucking business
Our client is a small to medium-size, asset based common carrier {dedicated rail, intermodal, and 3rd party equipment – plant support}. Client prefers someone from a similar size company.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving new Sales growth
- Leveraging Operation efficiencies
- Ensure that work is being performed in compliance with company standards as well as local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations
- Establish performance objectives, internal KPI’s, and Customer Metrics
- Lead and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Review costs and marketing data to develop competitive rate offerings
- Review and analyze vendors to ensure qualifications are met, and assist in negotiating service contracts
- Experience with transportation management systems {TMS}
- Knowledge of U.S. transportation and DOT regulations as it relates to trucking
- Ability to identify complex problems, and review related information to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
- Knowledge of parts, equipment, maintenance and the mechanical operation of motor vehicle and associated equipment
- Establish a safe work environment
- Build, train and support a high performing transportation team
- Develop top talent as part of overall growth
- Oversee overall customer experience
- Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and profitability
- Participate in rate and contract negotiations
- Proactively lead your team to improve efforts to increase bookings of existing customer freight, drive new sales growth, leverage operational efficiencies, and significantly grow the carrier base
- Ensure safety, maintenance, and record keeping in accordance with company policy and DOT standards.
